Ansul R-102 restaurant fire suppression system
There are around 13,000 restaurants in Finland (Finnish Society of Food Science and Technology (ETS)). Of restaurant fires, 42% are caused by cooking and frying appliances such as grills, deep fat fryers, etc. Half of the restaurant keepers who had a fire in their restaurant wind down their business because of the high expenses. An investment in a fire-extinguishing system only amounts to a fraction of the direct and indirect costs of potential fire damage.
The ANSUL R-102 fire suppression system is designed to protect restaurant cooking equipment, hoods and their exhaust air ducts. It is designed to the strictest of standards and approved to the requirements of UL300, NFPA17A and NFPA96. The system is CE marked.
ANSUL R-102 fire suppression systems have been widely installed in the United States and Europe since the ‘80s.
The system has four basic functions:
- Automated fire suppression
- Manual fire suppression
- Power supply shut-off
- Gas supply shut-off
The system activates automatically in response to a temperature increase or when manually activated. The system sprays the extinguishing agent on the cooking appliances, in the hood filters and in the air exhaust duct. The extinguishing agent forms a soap-like foam on the surface of burning grease, cooling it and forming an insulating layer between hot grease and air.
